When connected, the processor of the disclosed apparatus may instantiate a monitoring application, which may request a communication port number for communicating telemetry information received from the equipment to be monitored. The application mappings may store an association of the instantiated application and its corresponding communication port number. The apparatus may also establish a common communication interface for communicating with the various monitoring applications based on the stored application mappings. Thus, a client device need only communicate with the common communication interface instead of each of the monitoring applications separately.
