Zusammenfassung:	Porphyrins containing one or more neutral or negatively-charged, closo- or nido-carborane substituents are useful as chelators. The carbon-carbon bonds linking the boron-containing groups to the porphyrin ring make the compounds highly resistant to hydrolysis. These compounds have potential for use in selective binding to specific ligands. These compounds are highly stable, soluble in water and organic solvents, and have low toxicity.
