One embodiment is a sectional fender that can be disassembled and carried in a bag that attached to the bicycle frame or below the saddle. An optional tensioning means provides additional stability for the fenders and helps to ensure a tight connection of the sections of the sectional fender embodiment. The fender system includes optional front and rear mudflaps that provide front wheel spray protection for the cyclist and rear wheel spray protection for following riders.
