Zusammenfassung:	In a remote control system which is operated by way of a light wave guides, a monitoring device is provided for a remotely controllable load, the monitoring device measuring the current through the load and deriving values therefrom for the proper and the improper operating state of the load. All switches participating in the drive and monitoring functions with respect to the load are incorporated in a check concerning the operability of the monitor and of the load, the check being carried out during operation of the load.
