An acidic tin-plating bath comprises a source of tin ions e.g. 1 to 20% stannous sulphate, a source of H ions e.g. 0.1 to 20% phenol sulphonic acid, and an additive, e.g. 0.01 to 10%, comprising 0.0125 to 98.7% of 4:41-di (dimethylamino) diphenyl-methane and remainder of one or more other tin-plating additives, e.g. a sulphonated phenol (e. g. O-cresol) condensation product, a phenol/polyol (e.g. glucose) condensation product, sulphonated B is phenol A (2:21 di-p-phenylolpropane) in acetic acid, and dihydroxy-diphenyl sulphone, as described in Specifications 1, 221, 688, 1, 146, 588 and 1, 033, 662.
