METHOD FOR CORRECTION OF COLOR IMAGES

1341068 Imbitition process FUJI PHOTO FILM CO Ltd 9 Sept 1971 [9 Sept 1970] 42209/71 Heading G2C In making coloured images by an imbitition process the final image quality is improved by lowering the absorptive ability to dye of the silvercontaining gelatine relief image. This is achieved by (a) rehalogenating the silver relief image in gelatine, obtained by a tanning development, fixing and wash off process, using a bleaching bath of a halide and a bleaching agent, and (b) by a further tanning development step using pyrogaltol or catechol. The resulting relief is then dyed and dye transferred to a mordanted support. The bleaching/tanning development step may be repeated several times to further improve the contrast. The oxidizing agent in the bleaching bath is potassium ferrocyanide, potassium bichromate, concentrated sulphuric acid or copper sulphate, and the halide potassium bromide or sodium chloride. The silver relief image may be formed in gelatine or in gelatine containing 10% polyvinyl alcohol or polyvinylpyrrolidone. Either the whole or part of an image may be treated in this manner.
