Zusammenfassung:1375310 Electro-chemical analysis GENERAL ELECTRIC CO 4 Oct 1972 [18 Oct 1971] 45670/72 Heading G1N A H+ ion specific membrane comprises a hydrophobic elastomeric polymer with a dielectric constant of from 4 to 13 and a H+ ion specific carrier that is a hydrophobic lipophilic uncoupler known to uncouple oxidative phosphorylation in mitochondria and chloroplasts. A solution of the polymer and carrier are cast on a glass plate in the form of a film from which a portion is punched out and joined to the end of a glass tube containing a KCl electrolyte and Ag/Ag Cl electrode. Examples of polymers are given and include polyurethanes, chloroprene polymers, vinylidene fluoride-hexafluoropropylene polymers and organopolysiloxane polycarbonate block polymers. Methods of production are described. Suitable H+ ion carriers are p-dodecyldinitrophenol (I); p-octadecyloxyphenyl hydrazone mesoxalonitrile (II); p-octadecyloxy-m-chlorophenyl hydrazone mesoxalonitrile (III). Methods of production are described. The carrier may be employed in admixture with a hydrophobic, lipophilic salt.
