description 1377662 Controlling position of turntable FUJI PHOTO FILM CO Ltd 31 May 1972 [31 May 1971] 25561/72 Heading G4H In an arrangement for stopping a turntable at a desired one of 100 positions selected by closure of a "tens" switch 100-109 and "units" switch 90-99, the position of the turntable is encoded by "tens" and "units" groups of cam operated switches 50-59 and 640-649, and a phototransistor 67 co-operates with a notched disc (65) to generate 100 precisely defined clock signals per revolution of the turntable whereby relay R 2 which disengages an electromagnetic clutch 7 and applies an electromagnetic brake 8 is energized at a time independent of inaccuracies in the closing time of the cam operated switches. Relay R1 avoids the need for the "tens" switch to remain closed for the entire scan of the units switches. The turntable may be a magazine for information cards, final selection of a card from one of 100 compartments being performed by a card reader (3, Fig. 1, not shown).
