description 1,270,357. Lateral adjustment of endless conveyers. GOODYEAR TIRE & RUBBER CO. 8 Oct., 1970 [3 Nov., 1969], No.47891/70. Heading B8A. [Also in Division B7] Conveyers C and D, Fig. 1, form part of means for conveying tyre building stock S from a supply roll R thereof to a tyre building drum 22 in a tyre building apparatus (see Division B7) and are arranged one above the other extending between their respective stock receiving ends 200, 202 which ends are elevated substantially above the respective supply rolls R, R1 while the respective delivery ends 204, 206 of the conveyers are disposed at a lesser elevation above the drum 22. The conveyers C, D have first drive means in the form of a gear motor 250 operative to advance a leading edge portion of the stock S towards the drum 22 and in a reverse direction and also a second drive means which maintains the surface speed of the drum 22 and endless conveyer belts 220, 226 equal. The apparatus 10 has detector units 374, 376, Fig. 4, in the form of photocell units on guide assemblies 349, 351 to locate the respective transverse leading edges E, E1 of the stock S at predetermined positions represented by transverse lines 370, 372 respectively on conveyers C and D. Timers (574) and (582) which form part of an electrical control means of the apparatus 10 are adjusted to provide a time interval such that the leading edge E of the stock on the belt 226 is moved from its predetermined transverse line 372, at which the stock at rest terminates, to a predetermined position relative to the drum 22, where the leading edge E of the stock intersects the mid-circumferential plane of the drum 22 in its upper quadrant Q. Further, the apparatus 10 has means to effect lateral displacement of conveyers C and D from a generally centred position relative to a plane 36, displacement being provided for by supporting side members 210, 212 on a cross slide bar 400 fixed at its respective ends to columns 18 and 20 and extending parallel with axis 24 and a second crossslide bar 402 fixed at its respective ends upon beams 14, 16 and extending parallel with the bar 400. The bars 400, 402 are each translatably engaged by a pair of linear bearings 404, 406 of the circulating bell type, the bearings 404, 406 being secured to the side members 210, 212. Lateral movement of conveyers C, D is effected by a gear motor 410. Operation of the apparatus 10 is effected by a plurality of circuits including particularly a stepping programme controller by
