The optional comonomer(s) (c) may be selected from vinyl carboxylate esters, N-methylol-(meth)- acrylamide and ethers thereof, acrylic and methacrylic acids and salts, amides, nitriles and hydroxyalkyl and dimethylaminoethyl (HCl salt form) esters thereof, and vinyl and vinylidene halides. The hetal component of the acetylacetonate may be Al, Zn, Ni, Be, Mg, Zr, Ti, Co or Cu. Suitable liquid diluents include aromatic hydrocarbons, aliphatic ketones and esters, glycol esters or ethers, essential oils, glycol, alkanols, tetrahydrofuran and water. The agents may optionally include components such as plasticizers, pigments, flow improvers, phenoplast resins, aminoplast resins, phthalate resins, oil-modified phthalate resins, alkyd resins, epoxy resins, other acrylate resins, cellulose derivatives and colophony. The agents can be applied to a substrate and dried or baked to form clear, hard films; hardening may be accelerated by the presence of a compound of Fe, Co, Pb or Mn. The agents are also useful in bonding textiles and non-woven fabrics, and for laminating.
