description | 1,119,970. Change-speed gear. C. S.-VOITH, M. VOITH, H. W. SCHWEPPENHAUSER, and C. KNAPP, [trading as VOITH GETRIEBE K.G.]. 23 Dec., 1965 [24 Dec., 1964], No. 54658/65. Heading F2D. A change-speed gear comprises at least three shafts each carrying at least two gears A, A1, B, B1, C, C1 clutchable to the respective shafts by toothed clutches 10-15, the gears lying in two planes with gear A meshing with gears B and C. A motor 1 drives input shafts I, II through gearing 3, 4, 5 and hydraulic couplings 8, 9 which may be disengaged by emptying their working circuits; the output shaft III may be driven at four forward and four reverse speeds and the gear changes are achieved by actuating the various clutches and couplings 8, 9 without interrupting the power flow as set out in Fig. 3, not shown. If gears etc. 5, 7, 9 are omitted two forward and two reverse stages can be obtained. The power flow may be in the opposite direction, Fig. 4, not shown. Figs. 5-8, not shown, give other arrangements of gears on two input and one output shafts; whilst Figs. 9 and 10, not shown, give powerflow diagrams for nine gears in three planes on three shafts; two adjacent gears on one shaft may be clutched together. In gearing of the above arrangement but having four shafts, two would-be input shafts and two would-be output shafts, the latter may be followed by a summation gearing or act, for example, as vehicle driving axles. |
