A photographic silver halide developer contains as development accelerator and silver halide solvent a cyclohexane derivative which is substituted in the ring by an amino or substituted amino group and contains a second group which is an amino, substituted amino, hydroxyl or hydroxyl alkyl group. Compounds specified are 1, 4-bis (methylamino) cyclohexane, 4-amino-cyclohexanol and 1-cyclohexylamino-2-propanol. The developing agent may be a 3-pyrazolidone, a dihydroxybenzene, a p-N-methylaminophenol salt or a phenylene diamine.
