In one aspect, a method for wireless communications may include monitoring, at a wireless device, a congestion of a channel; adapting, at the wireless device, an interval at which discovery beacons are transmitted based on the congestion of the channel; and transmitting from the wireless device the discovery beacons on the channel at the adapted interval.
