Zusammenfassung:	A gable top carton and a carton blank for forming a gable top carton are provided having patterns of score lines positioned beneath a closure aperture that relieve stress during a folding operation to better allow the carton blank to be formed into a suitable gable top container. The score pattern is particularly useful for cartons where the closure assembly has a flange which may touch or overlap with one of the walls of the front face panel of the assembled carton and respective portion of the carton blank.
