Zusammenfassung:	A peristaltic pump for medical purposes includes a pump casing in which a tube accommodation chamber is formed. In one embodiment, a pump head is rotatably mounted in the tube accommodation chamber. A tube unit is adapted to be inserted in the tube accommodation chamber such that a tube of the tube unit is engaged with the pump head in a manner to at least partially encompass the pump head. For this purpose, a tensioning device is arranged at the pump casing. The tensioning device cooperates with the tube unit so as to tension the tube around the pump head. The tensioning device may include a lever mechanism, wherein a lever element of the lever mechanism simultaneously forms or comprises a protective cap for at least partially covering the tube accommodation.
