Zusammenfassung:	According to one embodiment, a display device includes a first substrate, a second substrate, a liquid crystal layer located between the first substrate and the second substrate and containing a polymer and a liquid crystal molecule, and a light emitting module provided along a side surface of the second transparent substrate. At least one of the first substrate and the second substrate includes first light-shielding portions arranged in a first direction. When a width of each of the first light-shielding portions in the first direction is defined as Lx, and an interval of the adjacent first light-shielding portions in the first direction is defined as Sx, a duty ratio Dx shown by Lx/(Sx+Lx) is less than or equal to 0.2.
