Zusammenfassung:Provided is a polarizer that is thin and that has exceptional heat resistance. The polarizer is made from a polyvinyl alcohol resin film and has an iodine content of 3.5 wt% or more. The absolute value of a single transmittance change amount ΔTsa after the polarizer is left in an environment in which the temperature is 105°C for thirty hours is 5.0% or less. The single transmittance change amount ΔTsa is represented by the following formula: ΔTsa (%) = Ts30 - Ts0 (wherein Ts0 is the single transmittance prior to heating and Ts30 is the single transmittance after being left for thirty hours in an environment in which the temperature is 105°C).
