description A monitoring system and method for riverbed scouring depth and stream speed silt concentration are disclosed. The system comprises a plurality of sensor balls, an intermediate device, and a computation device. Each sensor ball corresponds to a different depth of the sand/soil layer; when it is scoured and floated, a built-in accelerometer, water depth pressure gauge and positioning unit respectively detect moving acceleration, water depth and position of the sensor ball, which are transmitted via a wireless transmission module. The intermediate device comprises a signal receiver and an antenna for receiving the signal emitted from the sensor balls and transmitting the same by the antenna to the computation device for computing the scouring depth, water depth, position and speed distribution in depth direction. In addition, the signal strength of the sensor balls received by the intermediate device can be used to calculate signal attenuation for estimating the silt concentration in the stream, so as to achieve
