Прямоугольный упругий мат выполняют из проволочной сетки с ячейками ромбической формы. На колесную ось устанавливают съемные проставки. Мат наматывают в n слоев на проставки. Мат ориентируют так, чтобы одна диагональ ячейки была параллельна оси колесной пары, а вторая перпендикулярна ей. К торцам рулона прикладывают сжимающее усилие. Убирают съемные проставки и плотно прижимают рулон к поверхности оси. Рулон стягивают удерживающими устройствами в нескольких местах, начиная с центра рулона.
