description | FIELD: measuring techniques. ^ SUBSTANCE: proposed seismograph calibration method is based on artificially stimulating oscillations of the pendulum of the seismograph to be calibrated and taking readings from a register. These readings are used to determine calibration characteristics of the seismograph, namely amplitude-frequency response of the seismograph. The exciting force is applied to the frame of the seismograph through vibrating electrostrictive material mounted between bearing adjustment screws and a pedestal, on the opposite sides of which are mounted capacitor plates. Frequency of oscillation of the electrostrictive material is given through stimulating a given value of the electrostatic field of the given capacitor. Amplitude frequency response of the seismograph is determined using given oscillation frequency values of the electrostrictive material and the known value of its linear deformation. ^ EFFECT: increased accuracy in determining the form of seismograph calibration characteristics. ^ 2 dwg |
