FIELD: mechanical engineering; engines. ^ SUBSTANCE: proposed muffler contains housing consisting of two parts symmetrically arranged relative to mating plane. Left-hand and right-hand parts of housing form inner space and intake and outlet cylindrical branch pipes. Partition installed inside housing is made in form of two halves symmetrical relative to plane of mating which forms channels and expansion chambers by means of three design members of partition, first and third members being made with wavy surfaces having outer surfaces mating with inner surface of housing. Muffler is provided with inlet channel in form of pipe connecting intake branch pipe with expansion chamber of third member of partition through expansion chamber of first member and through central channel of second three-channel member arranged in plane of mating of partition halves, central channel of three-channel member being made with area of flow section equal to area of flow section of intake branch pipe, and two side channels connecting inner expansion chambers are made with area of flow section equal to 1.6-2.0 of area of section of water channel in form of pipe with area of section equal to area of section of intake branch pipe. Channels formed by wavy surface of third member of partition are made through, and channels connecting inner and outer expansion chambers are formed by wavy surface made on part of first member of partition. ^ EFFECT: reduced noise. ^ 3 dwg
