FIELD: automatics of electric circuits. ^ SUBSTANCE: in the method, short circuit current is recorded at input of powering transformer between input switch and automatic reserve enabling switch, at the same time moment short circuit current is recorded in branching lines, voltage is controlled on section of buses of powering transformer, and, if short circuit current is present and at input of powering transformer, or in one of branching lines, and after its disabling by protection voltage is absent on bus section of powering transformer, then conclusion is drawn that short circuit occurred in branching line and its switch failed, in this case signal for forbidding automatic enabling of reserve is injected. ^ EFFECT: expanded area of use and functional capabilities. ^ 2 dwg
