METHOD FOR REGULATING WIDTH OF RECEPTION OPENING OF SEGMENTS OF ROLLER GUIDE IN CONTINUOUS CASTING PLANTS AND APARATUS FOR PERFORMING THE SAME

FIELD: metallurgy. ^ SUBSTANCE: method is used for regulating width of receiving opening of segments in continuous casting plants, namely in plants for continuous casting of slabs. Plant includes roller guide with segments for controlling billet motion with use of measuring and control signals. In order to create separate smart segment, measuring and control signals are processed at least in one system block directly in respective segment. Set values are fed from higher control system through field bus, for example high speed bus and power supply system to segment. Real values are returned also through field bus to control system as result of control operations or state of process. Data such as rigidity factor, diameter of rollers, parameters of regulator, control range, main settings for width of receiving opening are fed to system blocks mounted in segments. ^ EFFECT: improved reliability of control operations. ^ & cl, 2 dwg
