Process is carried out by dosing organic oxygen-containing chelate compound taken in the amount from 0.5 to 2 equivalents of amount of 1-iodo-1,2,2-trifluoro-1,2-dichloroethane used in reaction in mixture of parent reagents. The reaction temperature is from 0oC to 45oC. Reaction can be carried out in the absence of solvent and in medium of hydrocarbons or their halogen-derivatives, or mixture of such solvents. Method provides increasing yield and simplifying technology in preparing 1,2,3,4-tetrachlorohexafluorobutane. ^ EFFECT: improved preparing method, increased yield. ^ 5 cl, 6 ex
