description FIELD: medicine. SUBSTANCE: method involves building and analyzing cardiac tissue amplitude histogram executed after having made preliminary selection of maximum radiation signal power relative to predominating gray scale gradient on heart cavity image. Range of densities under measurement is first determined. To do it, ultrasonic density level corresponding to heart cavity is to be taken for the lowest level. The superior level is defined as the level corresponding to pericardium areas being the most dense and remote from transducer on the picture. The apparatus settings are adjusted in a way that the whole histogram range is based on linear characteristics of tissue density-image brightness relationship. Then, a mode is used that provides low amplitude signal substitution with high amplitude ones with the most intensive signals from an area under study being accumulated on the picture. After having built a picture composed of the most intensive signals, the picture is analyzed using amplitude histogram scale. Brightness-density characteristics of the corresponding cardiac tissue zone differ from values inherent in normal intracardiac structure, the structure is diagnosed as injured one. EFFECT: enhanced accuracy of diagnosis.
