description FIELD: manufacture of refractories, particularly, methods of manufacture of carbon-containing refractories applicable in lining of high- temperature metallurgical units, mainly, converters, electric melting furnaces, unites of steel ladle treatment and transportation. SUBSTANCE: method includes mixing of 70-97 wt.% of refractory component, 3-30 wt-% of graphite in capacity of solid carbon component, and above 100%, 0.1-10 wt.% of antioxidant and 4-8 wt.% of complex organic binder containing pitch and phenol resin, with additional introduction of carbon with specific surface of 8-10 sq. m/g in amount ensuring carbon-graphite ratio of (1:5)-(:10). Mixing is carried out in two stages. At the first stage, carbon is homogeneously distributed between antioxidant, powdery part of complex organic binder and finely dispersed part of refractory component, and then, prepared finely dispersed part of mixture is mixed with granular refractory component, graphite and liquid part of complex binder. EFFECT: higher efficiency of method due to balanced combination of strength and resistance to slag effect of mixture for manufacture of carbon- containing refractories. 2 tbl
