SUBSTANCE: method involves using rocket-type fire-extinguishers as means for transportation of fire-suppressing devices to fire-fighting zone; starting rocket-type fire-extinguishers by means of fire discharge apparatus such as launcher mounted on helicopter; providing successive discharges of air knock wave and rocket-exhaust cloud of fire-extinguishing substance above fire zone at predetermined time interval by rockets, whose fire-suppressing devices adapted for first discharge in a volley are filled with explosive substance and for second discharge in a volley with retarding dispersion; setting number of rockets comprising one or other substance depending on type and area of fire zone. Rocket-type fire-extinguisher with fire-extinguishing retarding dispersion has engine equipped with combustion chamber and connected to container, which is charged with fire-extinguishing retarding dispersion and provided with nozzle openings formed in bottom and cylindrical parts, and is further equipped with air intake device, pyrotechnic cartridge, control signal receiver, cut of Bickford fuse, container and casing movably mounted on container, and obturator detachably positioned on casing. Openings are made in cylindrical surfaces of container and related casing. Rocket-type fire-extinguisher for suppressing fire with air knock wave has engine provided with combustion chamber and connected with casing charged with explosive substance. Casing incorporates control signal receiver connected to inertia detonator, and length of Bickford fuse connected to bottom part of combustion chamber and to inertia detonator. Method and extinguisher are used for suppressing forest and steppe fires occurring in difficult-to-reach places (steep mountains, impassable forest, high temperature, dangerously explosive places).
