Zusammenfassung: | electrical engineering. SUBSTANCE: storage battery built around metal-gas cells has hermetically sealed spherical cylindrical case accommodating electrochemical pack of cells. Electrochemical pack is secured on central rod and braced by means of two flanges and nut turned onto rod. Flanges whose sectional area is specially selected are designed to build up equal compression pressure of 250-400 kgf/sq. cm over inner and outer circumferences of pack. Stiff polymeric rings on electrolyte-containing separators with sealing compound on surfaces being sealed are compressed over inner and outer circumferences of plates which prevents escape of oxygen to common gas space and electrolyte squeezing out of electrochemical pack. Stiff polymeric rings whose outer diameter is greater than that of plates are fitted between series-connected cells to prevent electrolyte leakage over electrochemical pack. Discontinuous compression of negative plates over outer diameter enables hydrogen transfer from common gas space to catalyst-containing layer during discharge and vice versa during battery charge. Electrolyte leakage over current leads and metal plates is excluded due to applying compression pressures to negative plates and current leads at same points. Catalyst-containing and gas-diffusion layers of negative plate constitute integral layer which simplifies assembly of electrochemical pack. EFFECT: improved power capacity of battery. 6 cl, 6 dwg |
