description FIELD: mechanical engineering; internal combustion engines. SUBSTANCE: fuel mixture is processed in multichamber manifold of engine by fan-like nonhomogeneous magnetic field. Permanent magnets used for this purpose are magnetized by nonuniformly applied windings. Magnetic field strength in primary chamber of manifold is not less than 1.2 times greater that in other chambers. Permanent magnet used for treatment of fuel mixture is made in form of at least one nonclosed ring built into diamagnetic or ferromagnetic case. Ring consists of paired arc-shaped fan-like magnetized sections with shaped diamagnetic inserts-separators placed between side edges of magnetic sections. Inserts are provided with shunts compensating for changes in magnetic properties at engine heating. EFFECT: enhanced efficiency of engine, reduced toxicity of exhaust gases. 4 cl, 2 dwg
