A process for the selective oxidation of ethane and/or ethylene to acetic acid using the catalyst composition. The catalyst composition provides high selectivity to acetic acid with reduced selectivity to ethylene. Kompozicija oksidnog katalizatora koja sadrži elemente molibden, vanadijum, niobijum i titan i postupak za pripremanje kompozicije katalizatora. Postupak za selektivnu oksidaciju etana i/ili etilena u sirćetnu kiselinu korišćenjem kompozicije katalizatora. Kompozicija katalizatora obezbeđuje visoku selektivnost prema sirćetnoj kiselini sa smanjenom selektivnošću prema etilenu.
