Invenţia se referă la un procedeu de obţinere a unor catalizatori calcogenici de tip PdS/ZnS-CdS, utilizaţi în reacţia de descompunere a apei cu ajutorul luminii solare din domeniul vizibil. Procedeul, conform invenţiei, constă într- o primă etapă de sinteză a ZnS prin încălzirea la temperatura de 200°C a unei suspensii rezultate din sulfat de zinc(II), acid acetic şi sulfură de sodiu în apă bidistilată şi uscare în vid, după care, într-o a doua etapă, se suspendă ZnS cristalizată în apă sub ultrasonare, se adaugă acid acetic glacial, soluţie de clorură de paladiu(II) şi acetat de cadmiu, amestecul se încălzeşte la temperatura de 200°C cu o viteză de 2°C/min, timp de 72 h, după care se răceşte cu aceaşi viteză până la temperatura camerei, rezultând fotocatalizatori ca amestecuri de tip PdS/ZnS-CdS.
