description A method according to the invention depends on, that a light beam coming out from tested headlight is projected, by an optical system, on a screen, and the luminance distribution of an image obtained on the screen is converted into electrical signals of the qualities of a vision signal, which are then transformed into two-dimensional distribution of illumination or into two-dimensional distribution of luminous intensity. From such obtained distributions there is determined, by mathematical manner, a linear shape of the cut-off line or a real location of the hot spot, and finally the obtained results are compared with shape and location of accepted standards. A system to realisation of said method consists of a headlight to be tested as a source of light (S), an optical system (UO) with a screen (E), an analysing vision converter (WPA), an electronic system (UE), a compensating system (UMO) and computer peripheral output devices (UPW). The said elements are functionally and physically interconnected so that the light beam of the headlight to be tested (S) is projected, by an optical system (UO), on the screen (E), from which it is directed to the input of the analysing vision converter (WPA). Its output is connected to the input of an electronic system (UE), which output is connected to the inputs of the known computer peripheral output devices (UPW), preferably to the computer monitor (M). Simultaneously from a compensating system (UMO), an additional focused light beam, preferably laser light, is projected on a screen (E), which after crossing through an analysing vision converter (WPA) comes into an electronic system (UE), wherein it is being converted altogether with an image of the light beam of tested headlight (S).
