description A method of determining a temperature set point for a thermostat device comprising: receiving an initial temperature set point value, determining an optimal set of parameter values based on an iterative model by solving the iterative model until a Predicted Mean Vote is zero (PMV = 0) the iterative model including parameters of the initial temperature set point value, a metabolic rate, a relative humidity, a relative air velocity and a clothing level; changing the temperature set point (ta) in the iterative model while maintaining the other parameters constant until the Predicted Mean Vote (PMV) is at a predetermined comfort level value, and selecting the determined temperature set point as an actual temperature set point for the thermostat device. The iterative model may be based on the ASHRAE-55 standard. The parameters of the model may be measured using a sensor, such as humidity. The purpose of the invention is to save energy by reducing the heating or cooling load of a temperature control system by reducing or increasing the temperature according to a formula that will predict the dissatisfaction of people in the environment.
