Zusammenfassung:	The purpose of the present invention is to provide a method for causing light emission from a target cell, said target cell being present inside a cell mass and being to be caused to emit light by using a fluorescent probe. The present invention provides a method for causing fluorescence emission from a target cell, which comprises: removing calcium ions from a cell mass or a tissue containing the target cell; and bringing the cell mass or tissue into contact with a fluorescent probe which is capable of emitting fluorescence when being in contact with the target cell or incorporated within the target cell. Thus, it becomes possible to cause light emission from the target cell present inside the cell mass or tissue. Therefore, the present invention is usable for detecting a target cell in a sample such as a clinical sample in which the target cell may not always be present on the surface.
