description Depositing drug on the olfactory region of the nasal cavity is difficult to accomplish due to the complex architecture of the nasal cavity and the turbinate guided air path for inhaled breath through the nose. Disclosed is a device for the intranasal delivery of a compound. The device comprises a y-junction that resides within a housing and that includes a base, a first branch of the y-junction radiating from the base, a second branch of the y-junction radiating from the base, a third branch of the y-junction radiating from the base, and an internal dose loading channel of the y-junction. The first branch of the y-junction is configured to be in fluid communication with a metered dose pump to draw compound from a vial upon actuation of the device. A dose chamber is in fluid communication with the third branch of the y-junction to receive the compound pumped from the vial. A spring associated with the second branch of the y-junction is configured to first actuate the metered dose pump and to subsequently actuate a propellant canister such that the compound is loaded into the dose chamber before the propellant expels the compound from the device through a nozzle associated with the dose chamber. An annular diffuser having an annular diffuser opening is seated in a channel in fluid communication with the second branch of the y-junction, establishing a fluid path from the propellant canister to the dose chamber. An actuator grip surrounds the y-junction.
