Zusammenfassung:	609232 Disclosed is a method of configuring an end device via an advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) network. The method includes receiving, via the AMI network, a program recipe with one or more configuration parameters. The program recipe is specific to the end device and formatted according to a generic program table (510) of the end device. The program recipe is decrypted and validated and after the decryption and validation, program recipe is implemented, by the end device, to configure the end device with the one or more configuration parameters. The end device is associated with a first vendor and the AMI network is associated with a second vendor different from the first vendor. The program recipe can be decrypted by the end device but it is not able to be decrypted by the AMI network of the second vendor.
