Zusammenfassung:	Disclosed is a polymer comprising: a linear or branched polyethylenimine polymer that has been quaternized with a hydrophobic side chain moiety and a photo-reactive moiety, wherein the hydrophobic side chain includes a C=C group in the chain and/or attached to the chain. Also disclosed is a structure, comprising: a surface having a polymer as defined above covalently attached to the surface, thereby providing the structure with antimicrobial properties. Further disclosed is a linear or branched polyethylenimine polymer derivative that obtained by reaction of a polyethylenimine polymer with a reagent for introducing a photo-reactive moiety (such as 4-[(6-bromohexyl) oxy] benzophenone) and a reagent for introducing a hydrophobic side chain moiety (such as 11-bromo-1-undecene).
