FORMULATION OF MICROCAPSULES COMPRISING A DISPERSED SOLID CHEMICAL

ABSTRACT - 595675 Disclosed herein is a product comprising microcapsules which themselves comprise: (a) a polymeric shell; and (b) a core which comprises (i) an agrochemical which is a solid at ambient temperature, dispersed in a polymer matrix (which may be polyurea, a polyamide or a polyurethane or a mixture thereof), wherein said agrochemical has a water-solubility in the range of 0.1 to 100 g/l at 20 ?C, and where the matrix has been formed via an interfacial polymerisation of an oil-in-water emulsion, (wherein the agrochemical is a herbicides, fungicides, insecticides, rodenticides, molluscicides and plant growth regulators which may be selected from acetamiprid, clothianidin, imidacloprid, thiacloprid or thiamethoxam, and (ii) a water-immiscible liquid characterised in that the matrix is distributed non-continuously throughout the water-immiscible liquid which may be selected from xylenes or naphthalenes, e.g. Solvesso ® 200; aliphatic organic compounds such as alkyl esters, e.g. Exxate® 700 - Exxate® 1000, Prifer® 6813; paraffinic compounds, e.g. the Norpar® & Isopar® ranges of solvents; alkyl phthalates, such as diethyl phthalate, dibutylphthalate and dioctylphthalate; alcohols, such as isopropyl alcohol; ketones, such as acetophenone and cyclohexanone; mineral oils, e.g. Cropspray® 7N or 11N; vegetable or seed oils, such as rapeseed oil; and alkylated seed oils.
