Zusammenfassung:Disclosed is an electronic detonator (10) with a detonator (10) housing that integrally packages a chip with a high voltage switch having a first switch contact spaced from and electrically isolated from a second switch contact and a trigger element. The trigger element passes between and is spaced from the first switch contact and the second switch contact and is shaped as a repeating pattern of faceted sections that narrow in width and funnel out in width. The detonator (10) also has an initiator (14) connected in series to the first switch contact of the high voltage switch thus forming a series circuit between the initiator (14) and the high voltage switch, an initiating pellet positioned relative to the initiator (14) such that functioning of the initiator (14) causes detonation of the initiating pellet, a primary energy source (48), a secondary energy source (50) and a controller operatively configured to function the initiator (14) to detonate the initiating pellet. The initiating is completed by controlling the primary energy source (48) to apply a desired primary charge potential to the series circuit including the initiator (14) and the high voltage switch and the secondary energy source (50) to drive a current through the trigger element that is sufficient to close the high voltage switch by electrically connecting the first switch contact to the second switch contact.
