Method and apparatus for securing panel walls

An elongate structural member for fixing an edge of a wall panel to a floor, a pair of such members being adapted to form a substantially channel-shaped structure for receiving the edge of a wall panel. Each member includes: a base portion with a planar face for abutting the floor; a side portion fixed to the base portion and extending away from the floor-abutting face; and two or more first attachment portions, each in the form of a longitudinally extending channel or rib for engagement with a spacer for connecting the pair of members. The base, side and attachment portions are integrally formed as a unitary structure. The side portion includes lips forming opposite undercut edges of a continuous recess to provide an engagement means for trim pieces.
