The moving contacts (3, 3a) of the rotary switch (20) are stationary, whilst the switch housing (2) is rotated, so that the fixed contacts (1, 1a) of the switch meet the moving contacts with completion of the rotation. The moving contacts of the switch together with the switch housing are moved by its rotation, and the moving contacts with complete rotation of the switch housing make contact with the fixed contacts. The switch housing can be rotated from a closed position in desired cases across an open position in to an earth position, only if the switch contacts of the load switch are open.$ ADVANTAGE - Switching position identifiable from outside. Overcomes sealing problems associated with sealing of sight glasses. Movement of housing to earthed position is only possible with open contacts.
