A stop for positioning on a drill comprises a housing consisting of two parts 18, 20 and a collet 31. The two parts are assembled together with the collet between them and the stop is then placed on a drill and the parts 18, 20 screwed together so that finger-like end portions 35, 37 are forced inwards by tapered end walls 43, 45 to grip the drill. Both the parts 18, 20 and the collet may be made of a plastics material.
