The suspension assembly is for a gas bottle equipped with an appendage at its upper outer end and comprises a holder (4) from which extends at least one suspension member (5). The holder has a through passage (7) for accommodation of a part of the appendage extending through it. The suspension member is movable between suspension and transport conditions, whereby the suspension member in the suspended state extends further crossways through the through passage of the holder than in the transport state. The suspension member is pivotable between the suspension position and that for transport A blocking device (9) holds the suspension member securely retained in the transport condition. The assembly has at least one shaft (10) with a center line around which the suspension member is pivotable. A spring (9) is wound around the shaft, exercise the blocking function and forms an engagement component for holding the suspension member in the suspended state.
