description The present invention relates to an improved system and method for automatic network switching in a distributed communication network upon total network connection failure. The system comprises a plurality of base stations (100) comprising a plurality of user devices (101) connected thereto and is configured to communicate with an access service network (ASN) gateway (102). The system further comprises a switching platform (103) coupled to the ASN gateway (102) configured to facilitate network switching and URL redirection in an immediate basis when the network connection from the Internet to an end user fails or is interrupted and to promptly notify the end user on the same. The switching platform (103) comprises a domain name server (DNS) profile switching unit (103a), a connection checking unit (103b), a universal resource locator (URL) switching unit (103c) and a notification unit (103d).
