Zusammenfassung:A SETUP TO GENERATE A TUNABLE MILLIMETER WAVE IS DESCRIBED. THE GENERATOR IS CONCEIVED TO PROVIDE A PHASE STABLE OPTICAL MODULATION FOR MILLIMETER WAVE WHICH IS PHASE COHERENT WITH THE LOW FREQUENCY REFERENCE SIGNAL. THE STABLE MILLIMETER WAVE CAN BE GENERATED WITH STIMULATED BRILLOUIN SCATTERING AND ARRAY WAVEGUIDE GRATING (24, 26). HENCE, ONLY ONE OPTICAL SOURCE (20) IS USED TO SIMPLIFY THE SETUP WHERE ONLY A STIMULATED BRILLOUIN SCATTERING GENERATOR IS USED. THE GENERATOR PRODUCES A STABLE MILLIMETER SOURCE WITHOUT ANY COMPLEX CIRCUITRY OF OPTICAL PHASE LOCK LOOP. THE INVENTION CAN BE TUNED TO GENERATE MILLIMETER WAVE IN A RANGE OF INTEREST. AN EMBODIMENT WITH A RANGE OF INTEREST MAY BE TUNED IN THE STEP OF 10 GHz FROM 10 GHz TO WO GHz. THE SETUP ONLY UTILIZES AN ALL OPTICAL TECHNIQUE TO GENERATE TUNABLE MILLIMETER WAVE.
