Un método para descargar fluido desde una jeringa y para mitigar las condiciones de oclusión incluye accionar el émbolo de una jeringa en un cilindro; el método monitorea la presión de 5 fluido dentro del cilindro de la jeringa y determina que existe una oclusión cuando la presión de fluido excede un umbral predeterminado; el método acciona el émbolo fuera del cilindro por medio de una cantidad predeterminada en respuesta a la oclusión detectada y acciona el émbolo de la jeringa en el cilindro hasta que una presión de fluido medida dentro del cilindro de la jeringa excede otro umbral predeterminado.
