Las botanas expandidas obtenidas inmediatamente después del proceso de extrusión están listas para el consumo humano. Los productos tipo alimentos extrudido expandido tipo cereal para el desayuno generados además de estar libres de grasas, proporcionan nutrientes básicos como carbohidratos y proteínas y fibra dietaria y elevado contenido de anti-oxidantes por lo que pueden considerarse como alimentos extrudido expandido tipo cereal para el desayuno nutritivos y funcionales. Además pueden considerarse como alimentos de origen natural e inocuos.
