Zusammenfassung: | The contamination of receiving water bodies by heavy metals due to anthropomorphic activities is of great significance to human health. There are metals that have a high capacity to form radicals that alter cellular functions when they exceed certain concentrations, for example, a prolonged exposure to concentrations greater than 20 mg of copper/L promotes the development of cancer. The invention relates to a thermoplastic matrix of chitosan (Ch) and polycaprolactone (PCL) for the removal of heavy metals in waste water, which, used in a ratio of 2:1 p/p respectively, offers a capacity of 62.5 mg Cu2+/g adsorbent (ads) in continuous processes with a HRT of less than 2 hours, and which permits various reuse cycles.
