Zusammenfassung:	The prevention , suppression or avoidance of crosstalk in a lens array may be achieved by providing trenches 32 between individual lenses 341,342 in the array. The array can be a unitary lens array preform having plural individual lenses 341,342. The trench 32 is filled with light absorbent material or material containing light absorbant particles for absorbing optical crosstalk between the individual lenses 341,342. Plural trenches (28,30, fig 6) may be provided which overlap (fig 6), or two trenches (16,20, figs 4A-4E) may be joined together from opposite sides of the array.
