The hologram optimization device acquires a target contrast ratio of a target image on an image surface, back-propagates an initial image having a random phase distribution on the image surface to a spatial light modulator so as to generate a hologram, propagates the hologram in the spatial light modulator so as to generate a reconstructed image on the image surface, acquires a first error between the amplitude of the reconstructed image and the amplitude of the target image, and a second error between a contrast ratio of the reconstructed image and the target contrast ratio, and uses a learning algorithm so as to repetitively perform back-propagation and propagation until the sum of the first error and the second error is less than or equal to a predefined value.
